Memorial Day BBQ

Today Andrea invited me and Noah to a BBQ at Matt house. Matt is on an opposing kickball team and she had hung out with him before. She had told me that his house was insane so I was excited to see his place. It was SUCH a beautiful day (about 80 degrees). We started heading to his house about 1:30 and we were the only people there when we arrived.

Its the freakin' weekend baby...

Its been a pretty uneventful week. Just school and work... I'm tired of going so far for work. I applied at the Museum at my school and I REALLY hope that I get the position because it would just be so much more convient.

here is some info about the museum:
http://fidm.edu/resources/museum+galleries/

In my marketing class we are working on a project where we have to create our own brand and do a presentation on it. My group came up with lollipop cookies (kinda lame at first) but we have developed it into this cool new brand where the cookie is like an accessory. We are doing a poster board with pictures that give a vibe for the brand and making the actual cookies as well, so its pretty cool!

Last night Katie and I skipped kickball and watched Dear John instead. Katie was crying like 15 minutes into it. The movie was really good but I hated the ending... I'm a sucker for romantic comedies though! And Channing Tatum. mmmm....

This weekend Noah is going to stay over and I'm soooo excited!! We are going to see sex and the city 2 on sunday and its going to be AWESOME!!! My other boyfriend, Andrea, is coming too! :)

I leave with this...

Dont forget to remember me...

I had my ipod of shuffle and this song came on and it reminded me of home...

Carrie Underwood- Don't forget to remember me

18 years had come and gone
For momma they flew by
But for me they drug on and on
We were loading up that Chevy
Both tryin' not to cry
Momma kept on talking
Putting off good-bye
Then she took my hand and said
"Baby don't forget:

Before you hit the highway
You better stop for gas
And there's a 50 in the ashtray
In case you run short on cash
Here's a map and here's a Bible
If you ever lose your way

Just one more thing before you leave
Don't forget to remember me"

This downtown apartment sure makes me miss home
and those bills there on the counter
Keep telling me I'm on my own
And just like every Sunday I called momma up last night
And even when it's not, I tell her everything's all right
Before we hung up I said
"Hey momma, don't forget:

to tell my baby sister I'll see her in the fall
And tell me-maw that I miss her
Yeah, I should give her a call
And make sure you tell Daddy that I'm still his little girl
Yeah I still feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be
Don't forget to remember me"

Tonight I find myself kneeling by the bed to pray
I haven't done this in a while
So I don't know what to say but
Lord, I feel so small sometimes in this big ol' place
Yeah, I know theres more important things, but
Don't forget to remember me

Don't forget to remember me

10 things I love about Los Angeles

1. My new friends. Mostly Andrea. She has made my transition very easy. It's nice to have a best friend here... even if she is weird. :) Someone who shares my passion for pizza and clothes... and Lost. We have the same sense of humor and I love her, even though she doesn't like my style ;)

2. The sunshine. Something about the sunshine just makes me in a good mood! Every day I enjoy waking up.

3. I'm never sick anymore!! Which I think has something to do with the sun.

4. Activities. There is always something to do here. I used to just sit around and watch TV in Portland (I think because the weather there just makes me want to stay in bed) but here we go out all do stuff all the time. Even going to Home Depot is an adventure in California.

5. Independence. Ever since I have been here I have felt very independent, like I can do anything. If I can find my own dentist, I can do ANYTHING!! :D

6. School! When I was in high school, the art institute, and PCC I HATED going to school. I dreaded class and doing homework. Now I LOVE IT! I look forward to going to class, even my boring classes!

7. The inspiring people. I love that Jenny is my roommate because she has introduced me to the most inspiring people. For instance, Chris is working on his line right now and is about to graduate. Just think, I could know someone famous. Not just KNOW him... his dog humped my arm! That's just crazy. And Jenny, she just got accepted into 3rd year. They pick 10 people out of 2 majors (that's like 2000 people!!) and she got chosen. She gets to travel the world and learn about fashion... how cool is that?

8. The fashion. People are so much more into it here. I love being surrounded by people who are passionate about the same things that I am.

9. Realizing how amazing my boyfriend is. I already knew he was awesome, but he followed me here so that he could make sure that my dreams come true and that I am properly supported (he is like my bra). He is such an amazing person and I just hope he knows that!

10. My parents. (Yes, I realize these things have nothing to do with LA but it was LA that made me realize these things.) I have the most amazing parents EVER! They pay for me to go to school and live in the coolest city. They are the most supportive and awesome parents ever! THANK YOU MOM AND GREG! I LOVE YOU!!!!!

10 things I miss about Oregon...

1. My family. Living far away from family really sucks. Its hard sometimes... But I am really lucky that I have Noah down there with me.

2. Tillamook Products. We dont have tillamook icecream, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. All we have is the cheese! Wtf?

3. My car. I HATE having to rely on other people for rides and I hate the bus even more. It felt so nice to be able to drive again on this trip home.

4. QUIET. I miss being able to come home and have peace and quiet and be able to relax with my boyfriend... I think I miss this the most.

5. Greenery. I miss the trees and the grass. I never realized how fresh the air is here until I came home.

6. A comfortable bed.

7. Going out to dinner. Everything in California is so damn expensive and I dont have a full time job so money is TIGHT!

8. Home cooked meals. I pretty much make anything that can be heated up.

9. My sister. I know I already said family, but Gwynne is my best friend too.

10. My friends. It's hard to find people who are genuine and that you can rely on. I've been finding out more and more who my true friends are...

Time to fly back to LA...

I apologize...

Today when Andrea and I were on our very long adventure to Target we were talking about my blog because she had mentioned that she read it. I asked her what she thought and she did what she always did and said exactly what she thought... "Its kinda boring, its informative though!!"

The more and more I thought about it, it annoyed me that my blog is boring. Who wants to read about that? I mean, obviously my family likes to know what I'm up to and such but no one really wants a play by play of my day, so I have decided that I will try and make this a little more like my personality and spunk this thing up!

So I decided I will start with mine and Andrea's adventure to Target. Now, the reason I'm calling this an "adventure" and not a "trip" is because we got lost.... and drove a half an hour in the opposite direction. Andrea has this AWESOME habit when she drive that if she gets into too intense of a conversation she will get lost... without a doubt. Its actually quiet HILARIOUS, although I have a feeling she wont think so!

Before we actually made it to this delusive Target we had to stop at In-N-Out before Andrea ate my arm. We waited in line for about a century then she got her food and sat in the parking lot and inhailed it... then the quest continued.

We drove by the LA Ink shop which was really cool! I get super excited any time there is a celebrity near by, in the vacinity of me or someone I know. Its weird, I cant explain it. Its like they are real people once someone you know saw them at a coffee shop once. Fascinating. I digress.

Once we got to Target we were there for like an hour and a half. I had to return some stuff and get face wash and Andrea needed an air mattress (because she is weird) and black bobby pins (which dont match her hair).

All in all it was a good day. I got an A on a project (which was not deserved at all because we totally didn't follow the directions but we talked our way to an A) and took a midterm that was super easy. Computers shumputers. Pssh...

Anyways, I hope that this blog meets the satisfaction of my needy best friend.

Funniest quote from tonight:
"LOOK! There's a jew. OH! There's another one! Weird...."
(We were in a VERY jewish neighborhood apparently and there were all of these Hasidic Jews walking around. Andrea found this odd.) :)

Weekend update!

Since SOMEONE was complaining that I don't update my blog enough I will try and keep up with it... in my defense, I was doing homework!!

So I was really excited because I got an A on my Product Development project AND I got 100% on my marketing Midterm!! :)

Noah and I have the same days off now so we hung out all weekend!! On Saturday he came over after work and we started a movie but I fell alseep. (The movie was really weird. It was about this guy who had multiple personalities and he was his own wife.... yeah... weird.)

On Sunday we went and turned in our deposit for our new apartment and took a few new pictures:

After that Andrea dropped us off at Denny's and we had delicious waffles! Then we stopped by Chris's to say hi to him and his weiner dog, Buddy. After that we went and saw Iron Man 2 which was awesome then snuck into Robin Hood which was good, but I was tired from sitting for so long. Noah decided to make me dinner so we went to Ralph's and got groceries. He made me chicken, penne pasta with a tomatoe and mushroom sauce, homemade garlic bread, and asparagus. OMG, it was soooooo good. I haven't had anything that good in a loooong time! I pretty much eat chicken and rice or top ramen. lol

Today I woke up and went to the airport with Jenny so that she could pick up her friend Charlene, which took us forever. When I got home, Noah was waiting for me. He had to cash some checks so we went to 2 differnt banks and took some pictures of some cool arcitecture:

A cool waterfall

Statue!

Noah eating his sucker

After our walk through the banking district we went to the red box and ralph's and rented Daybreakers and Legion and grabbed some of their soup for lunch because it was chilly and cloudy in LA today. We came home and ate lunch then watched our movies. Now we've just been hanging out and watching TV.

So that is your weekend update! I'm coming home next weekend and I'm sooooo excited! :)

Kickball Pub Crawl

I'm not exactly sure who threw this pub crawl for the kickball teams but it was so fun!! We actually had a VERY busy night.

First, Andrea, Noah, and I went to the first bar and met up with everyone. We were only there for a few minutes before we headed to bar #2. The second bar was called Spring. When we got there I realized... I didnt have my ID. So I told the bouncer that I would have my roommate bring it and I would wait outside. He just rolled his eyes like "suuuure, thats what all of the 20 year olds say".

One of the guys from the other team said "Oh hey, there is this bar right around the corner, its called my house." So we went to his GORGEOUS loft (This is where we are going to be moving into now) and he made us drinks and we chatted for a little bit. His name was Dustin, he moved here from NY and he is a real estate consultant in New York still. He also owns property in Oregon! (I thought that was pretty exciting. :)
He was really nice and actually bought me and Noah a drink, which we were very appreciative for since drinks in LA are like $20. HAHA

Oh, and the pub crawl was crazy hat themed.

Sexy glasses with Jenny

Andrea wearing Tam's HOMEMADE hat! LMAO

TOTALLY sober.

At Dustin's place with Andrea

"Chris, that looks like your real hair!!"

Noah and I at the end of the night at La Vida night club in West Hollywood

Pictures from La Vida's website... Imagine this but with 500 more people...

La Vida was cool, but it totally wasn't my scene. There were sooo many people there. Also I felt like I was on the hills because there was this guy video taping all night for promotional stuff and there was this giant light in our faces the whole time.

New apartment!!!

My best friend in LA, Andrea, Noah, and I are getting an apartment at SB Main. Its such an AMAZING building. When we were at the pub crawl saturday night (pics coming soon) we stopped by this guys apartment who plays on the opposing kickball team and it was AMAZING! It was a big open loft and I kept asking him all of these questions like how much it was and such. It was WAY out of our price range but he said that the 2 bedrooms were cheaper, so the next day we went back to check them out. We found a 2 bedroom that was perfect for us! I LOVE IT!!! Its so perfect for us and its cheaper then student housing and we get our own rooms and bathrooms. Its also close to school so we can walk! :)

Here are the pictures:

Enjoy!!

And it started with Cinco de Mayo....

After school on wednesday we had our weekly "Family dinner" planned so that we could celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Jenny's dad was in town and said that he would make us all dinner which was so nice because there was going to be almost 15 of us! So he made us enchilladas, vegetarian and some with fish, he also made some dips and nachos. Then I decided I really wanted to make my Fajitas that my grandma taught me to make, which everyone loved. But duh, I made them. :)

We had a BLAST, most everyone was drinking (except a few of us). We were dancing and having fun until like 12pm then everyone went home.

On Thursday, I had an interview at 2pm. My friend, Andrea, has a car so she said that she would take me. So we headed over there about 1pm and it only took us like 10 minutes to get there so we stopped at McDonalds so that she could get an ice cream cone and fries... because she is 5 years old. ;) My interview was with a non-profit organization being their "office manager". So basically I listen to my ipod, file, and organize! AND, I got the job! I start on Tuesday and I'm sooo excited! My friend Chris and I are going to do a test run on the metro on Monday to make sure that I can get there.

Thursday night was kickball which went by really fast this week for some reason. Instead of going to the bar as usual, Andrea, chris, and I decided to go to my apartment and order a pizza and do homework. I LOVE hanging out with them. We have very similar senses of humor and we literally just sit and laugh at each other. I have soooo much fun whenever we hang out.

Today, I had class at 8:30am but I left my apartment at 7:15 to go and study in the annex and print my homework. Andrea and I met in there and then walked to class together. After my writing class (which I found out today I have a 99% in that class!) Andrea and I had lunch together (the BEST clam chowder EVER) and studied for our Marketing midterm. After lunch I had to take my dreaded midterm. I think I did okay on it.... I didn't get as much sleep and studying in as I wanted though. :(
After Marketing I met up with Chris and we went to the Library then I went to the annex to do homework. When Andrea was out of class at 5pm we went and grabbed free magazines from the scholarship store then went to my house so I could change my shoes.

We found out that Andre and Eric were at Chris's and headed over there to hang out. We all really wanted pizza so we went on an adventure to find pizza. First we tried Ordering Papa John's online but they didnt deliver. So we drove to Little Ceasars but once we placed our order they told us they only take cash. Really? It's 2010. Soooo we just decided to go to Papa John's ourselves.

So worth it. :)

Andrea and I ended up hanging out with Chris and Oriana (his awesome roommate) for most of the night and had a lot of fun. I played with Oriana's weiner dog, Buddy, who kept trying to lick me ALL night. He dominated my arm. lol

Tomorrow, Noah is coming to LA for an interview and I'm really excited to see him. He also gets to meet Andrea finally! YAY

Anyways, I'm "gunnoo"(for Andrea hahahaha) go to sleep!

Steph

Family Dinner Nights

We started a new tradition here with all of our friends. We decided to make homemade dinners once a week and we would all get together and eat and watch a movie.

This week Chris and Andre made us homemade Mac-N-Cheese with Broccoli in it and homemade Garlic Bread. Then for dessert, Dyona made little chocolate dishes with Strawberries and whipcream in them.

It was so fun to just hang out at home and have a home cooked meal.

Our table all made up!

J. Crew, I love you.

I don't own a whole ton of stuff from J.Crew because, well, its expensive. But I do buy the occational t-shirt from them when they are on sale. I LOVE the fabric and I love that you can dress them up or down.

What I bought yesterday:

I bought this shirt in white. I LOVE it. The fabric is so soft and it fits perfectly!

And I bought this in Lavender.

I love how J.Crew has classic peices that are spiced up a little. The Creative Director, Jenna Lyons, is my idol. I think she is amazing. She is the one who brought J.Crew back to life. I love how she mixes dressy with casual and more masculine things with girly stuff.

I would love to for J.Crew someday, but for now I will just admire their Catalog. :)
