PACKAGE!!

Today I got a package from my mommy which I LOVE!!! I don't get to buy new things very often anymore because I have to conserve my money so getting things in the mail is so fun! PLUS, its like a present... even if it is something that was already mine that she is just sending to me. lol This time she sent me: magazines, stickers, magazine holders, a hole puncher, some mail, and my bra. :)Package days are the best days...

Today I had lunch with my friend Andrea, who is also from Portland. We went to Ralph's and got sushi then sat in the park and ate it.

This weekend I'm going to San Diego and I'm SUPER excited about it! I'll try and take lots of pictures! :)

Weekend update/ Movie review :)

I'm going to start a little before the weekend. Thursday night was our second kickball game. I'm not actually playing because it costs $70 to join but I am team cheerleader! We are sponsored by a bar, so after every game we go to the bar and get20% off drinks!

The FIDM Fistpumps (Yes, that's our name) in the "dug out" (Sorry I'm trying to use sports lingo- bare with me)

The Team on the field

Andrea (my Portland friend) taking the game VERY seriously

My roommates: Laura and Katie, laura pulled a hammie! haha

Jenny (my actual ROOMmate) being sexy as usual :)

So after the game we all went to the bar, which is pretty fun, it a mexican resturaunt so they play salsa music and we ate chips and salsa. However, I wasn't going to go to the bar because I had class in the morning but everyone convinced me to go and I drank a little too much, so the next morning I was not feeling so hot. I had a stomchache all day but after lunch I was okay. But I dont think I'll be going to the bar again.

On friday I had my writing class and marketing after that. I got a bunch of homework and quizzes passed back and I got either 100% or 110% on EVERYTHING!! So I was very pleased. I even got 70/70 on my big writing project. I'm so glad that I went first and got it out of the way because now I'm pretty much gaurenteed to pass the class. (My writing class kind of sucks because its a pass fail class. So I feel like I'm trying really hard just to get a pass, but I guess thats okay. We'll just pretend I get an A.)

Friday after school Noah got here and we walked to my school so we could get movie tickets. We get REALLY discounted movie tickets (like 50% off) so we always buy them from there. We grabbed some food from a very popular food card then we went to the movies.

First, we saw my movie. I wanted to see Oceans or The Back-up Plan. We decided on The Back-up Plan. Lets just say, I wish we would have seen Oceans. It's about Jennifer Lopez getting artificially inceminated because she is single and wants kids, but then she meets a guy, and its about their rocky relationship. I can't explain why I didn't really like but I will try. It wasn't really funny... Romantic Comedy's are supposed to be funny. It was okay, I would have just rather seen it on DVD.

After that we went to mine and Noah's favorite resturaunt, Octopus. Then we went home and watched an episode of Lost. The next morning we had breakfast then went to see another movie. SIDE NOTE: Noah and I watch a LOT of movies. We are movie people. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS. So this time we saw Noah's movie: Losers. This movie was okay, I didn't realize it was a comic book though. I liked Chris Evans roll in that movie. He was a goofball. The reason I didn't like it is because I don't like when woman and children die in movies, and children die in this movie. But I will say that other then that it was a good movie. The action scenes were intense and the story line had a suprise at the end that I didn't see coming... which is saying a lot, because between me and Noah, we can pretty much always guess the ending.

After the movie we came home and watched Avatar. Now, I'm sorry if I offend anyone but I really didn't like this movie. Okay, it was visually pleasing and creative (however it reminded me of Pochahontas and Fern Gully). But again, I HATE when innocent people die. It makes me angry. I hate that it exposes humans for what we really are... GREEDY ASSHOLES. I was actually mad after that movie. The movie is bascially about humans coming in and exterminating another species because they have something we want. Come on James Cameron, why dont you just make a hollocaust movie?!?!?

After that Noah went home and I went to sleep. All in all it was a good weekend, next weekend I'm going down to San Diego!! :)

To my followers: All 3 of you...

I want to say thank you for becoming followers and supporting me! I know people read my blog but how would I ever know??

I haven't talked much about school so I thought I would give everyone an update.

On Wednesdays I have Product Development Fundamentals and Tech for Business Applications.

My Product Development Fundamentals class is interesting. We discuss all of the different aspects of being a product development major and all of the different things you can do with your degree. We also discuss all of the different aspect of the fashion world according to a developer. I love hearing all of the different jobs from someone who still works in the business and can tell us how it actually is.

My Tech for business application class is a computer class. Enough said. However my teacher is this sweet little old man so I laugh at his jokes to be nice, even though I'm the only one. Also, Colin (Or Colon, as the teacher calls him) is in that class to entertain me.

On Fridays I have Writing Skills in the morning and Marketing and Brand Development in the after noon.

Writing skills isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I actually like it. Each of had to do projects where we choose a question and everyone in the class has to write about it. Then whoever picked the question has to grade every one's papers over the weekend and then write a summary about their experience and about their favorite paper. I volunteered to go first so that I could get it over with and I thought it sounded easy! :)

Marketing and Brand Development is fun because my teacher is really enthusiastic and tells funny stories. He also has a lot of experience when in the business. He was a fragrance manufacturer and he worked on tv shows.

That's one thing that I love about FIDM, so many of our teachers are actually in the business.

Anywho, I'm off to study some more for a quiz on Friday!

Sweat it out!!!

I just got home from the gym and I am damn tired. Ever since I moved to L.A. I have been feeling very body conscious and insecure. Everyone here is so tiny, healthy, and beautiful. Let's face it, I'm LAZY!!!! I've been trying to change my habits and today was the first time I have worked out since I have been here! A big thanks to Jenny for teaching my Pilates and I look forward to doing it every night!!

I leave you with an inspirational quote:

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Truisms

This was sent to me by my mom and I think it is really funny so I thought I would post it... with commentary of course.

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
*I don'r really have anything worth hiding, my best friend would just think I'm a loser for the amount of time I spend on blogs and fashion websites.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
*Enough said. This happens to me more often than not.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
*Especially for texting.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
*Dude seriously. I just crumple mine into a ball.

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
*Nope.

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
*I used to agree with this... but now that I live in LA, I don't. I have no idea where I am the majority of the time. I just memorize the tall buildings by my apartment and use those as reference. HAHA

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the Person died.
*"John Doe was malled by a gorilla."

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
*Okay, this one is the most true of them all. However, it's because I don't work out, eat well, or sleep.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
*haha not just at work, this is kind of in general for me! :)

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
* I don't buy blue ray for this specific reason. I fear the day that DVD's become the new VHS

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever.
*This for me is not true. I normally just wash it with my normal clothes and it gets ruined. HAHA

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
*LMAO!! This is actually one of my pet peeves, which everyone says is hypocrytical but I don't care.

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
*Dude seriously. Or wearing a cute outfit and not leaving the house.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
*I actually put them in my phone as "DO NOT ANSWER!"

18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
*Never even thought about it.

19. I disagree with Kay Jewellers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.
*LOL

20. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
*Again, especially in LA. I walk one block in the wrong direction and I'm like "WHERE IS MY PEPPER SPRAY!?"

21. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.
*This actually happens to me with movies I saw a year ago.

22. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
*This TOTALLY reminds me of me and Noah. We will literally carry so many bags that we can't open the door... or walk... just so we dont have to go back to the car.

23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.
*Huh?

24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
*More than anyone I know.

25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?
*HAHAHA people get mad at me when I do this. I hate mumblers.

26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!
*I hate that ONE nice person that lets them in. I have road rage.

27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
*Not if you use them as a napkin.

28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?
*I went to a private school so I never realized this... until I got to FIDM. There are some seriously dumb people out there. "Is Florida a part of California, or are they seperate states?" HAHAHAHAA

29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
*Omg I literally do this all the time with computer chairs.

30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.
*Totally. Especially in LA because they have no sense of personal space. "Please don't stop abruptly 2 inches behind me!!"

31. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
*I hate when Noah does this. He will look at his cell phone for the time, then when I ask him what time it is he looks again.

32. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!
*So true.

I LOVE POLYVORE!!!!

For those of you who don't know what Polyvore (polyvore.com) is, it's a website where you can take items from different stores and build outfits, story boards, and inspiration boards. I'm obsessed! I can literally spend hours on this website. I use it generally just to put together outfits that I like- most of the time with items that I cant afford! :)

Here are some that I have done (most of these are kind of old):

LA-LA-Land

Los Angeles is such a weird and funny place I've noticed. For instance, today I was walking to Ralph's (thats a grocery store if you are from Oregon!) and this is what I saw on my way:

Someone had literally taken off their shoes, and left them there. They were right under a tree and as I passed I looked up the tree to see if maybe there was some crazy homeless man up there... but there wasn't to my disappointment.

Something else I have noticed in LA is the black bags. I dont know if anyone else has noticed it but I see little black bags EVERYWHERE!!! I saw 7 today on my way to ralph's. I have no idea where they come from... its so random.

And the weirdest of them all...

Noah and I were walking back to my apartment the other day and Noticed there was a huge hole in the side of our building.
We thought it was really weird but didnt really think too much about it. Later my roommate Katie told me there was an accident a few nights before.

LMAO (pictures are by Katie)

I love Octopus

No, not the 8 tenticled sea creature, the resturaunt in Downtown LA. Last night Noah and I were walking to Qdoba at 10pm and when we got there they were closed so we went to this resturaunt that was a few doors down called Octopus.

Pics from the resturaunt:

The place had a lounge feel to it and even though it was 10pm on a saturday there weren't too many people there. They have what they call a "reverse happy hour" from like 9pm- close so they had cheap sushi and beer. I got the dinner combo with terriyaki chicken and california rolls and Noah got the Ribs and Terriyaki chicken. It was literally the best sushi I have ever had! It was sooooo good. Our dinners came with miso soup (bomb), salad (BOMB), and rice. We had SO much food and I seriously can't say enough how good it was and how much fun we have. Noah and I decided that when he moves up here that we are going to make it our weekly ritual to go there, thats how much we loved it! If you're in LA I recommend that you go, its on 7th and inbetween hope and flower!

CHAOS!!

I already knew this weekend was going to be awesome because Noah was coming up to LA to stay for the weekend!

Friday, after school, Jenny picked me and Dyona up from school. She got ready really quick because she had to go to a meeting. When Noah got to my house we made dinner (Tortollini with Alfredo sauce, chicken, and garlic bread!) and then around 9:00 we headed to LA live to see Kick-Ass (which was.... well, Kick-Ass). I had never been to LA Live so it was an awesome experience (if you dont know what LA live is, that's where the Staples Center is, the Grammy Museum, a bowling alley, a movie theater, resturaunts, etc.). Just to show how fancy LA Live is, our movie was on the 3rd floor of this movie theater. LOL

Picture of LA Live

After the movie we walked home (fyi: we have literally walked like 7 miles already this weekend. My feet are killing me). When we got to my front door I could hear a strange noise coming from inside. When I opened the door, Jenny, Mya, Dana, and Dyona were having a dance baking party. This weekend they were having a bake sale at Relay for Life so they needed baked goods. We got home about 12:20am and the party was still in full swing, so Noah and I sat down to watch the action. :)
Noah started watching Lost on my laptop and I started "grading" papers for school. By about 3:30am, Dyona was the only one still baking so Noah and I went to sleep.

This morning when we woke up I had already had the whole day planned. First, we went to my school and I showed him around and took him to our Museum. I knew he would appreciate that because they have an exhibit going on right now that has costumes from a bunch of movies and stuff!

After that we walked to the fashion district to look at an apartment. It was really cute, a decent location, and the complex was AWESOME!! Its like its own little community which is great in downtown LA. After that we walked around in the fashion district for about an hour then made the long trek home.

Noah had been applying for jobs in LA on the computer and we decided to take a walk down to Ralph's and rent a movie at the red box. We were walking down there and were taking the shorter way (which is under a creepy underpass) and saw this guy running with what looked like a GPS. I smiled at him and he hauled ass pasted us. Once he passed us, I realized... I HAD JUST WITNESSED A ROBBERY!!!! We kept walking under the underpass and we passed a Lexus with their window bashed in. I was so upset, I wanted to call the police but then I realized they have bigger fish to fry. I just want that guy to know- "I SAW YOU AND YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE BAD KARMA!!!".

But with the bad... comes the good... a few minutes later, Noah got a call from a chef at a restaraunt and they wanted him to come and interview TONIGHT! So he went to go do that and this is where I ended up, here. Writing this blog! :)

Wednesday classes

Today was my first day of Wednesday classes. I had Product Development Fundamentals in the morning and then Tech for Business Applications in the afternoon.

I really liked my teacher from my fundamentals class. She told a lot of good stories and seems like she has a ton of industry experience.

My Tech for Business Applications (computer) class was okay. I wasn't really there very long. The class was over crowded so I offered to go and test out since I feel like I have a pretty good sense for computers. Well, apparently not that good! The test wasn't what I expected at all!! It was multiple choice which at first I thought would be easy, but I dont remember the names of specific buttons!! I only remember where they are!! So I will be going back to class on Wednesday! lol Oh well, at least there isnt very much homework!

Tomorrow I am just going to do homework! YAY

San Diego!!

Noah came and picked me up saturday night after school and we went down to San Diego for the weekend! Jessica, Noah's best friend and roommate, was nice enough to let me stay there as well.

On Friday night we got there at like 11pm and just went to sleep.

Saturday we went sat and chit chatted until about 1pm and then went to red robin. I've never realized how crazy busy California is. The Red Robin was PACKED!!! After we ate we went and saw "The Last Song" which was kind of lame... lol Sorry Miley Cyrus fans. After that we took Jessica home and Noah and I went to Fashion Valley!!! Fashion Valley is this AMAZING outside mall that has literally EVERYTHING! They had every store I could possible think of from Hermes to H&M. I was a happy camper. :) I bought a few things from H&M but then we just window shopped. On the way back to jessica's, Noah and I stopped at the grocery store to get Jess some cold medicine and then got some movies! We ordered Pizza from Pizza From Mars (I think thats what its called) and drank tea. That night I got soooooo sick at like 1am and was praying to the porclain gods until about 8:30am. That was fun.

Sunday Noah and I just hung out at the house since I didnt get very much sleep. He went and rented Big Love season 2 and 3 and we spent the rest of our weekend doing that! :)

All in all it was pretty uneventful weekend but it was a lot of fun! I was just happy to spend time with Noah and Jessica!

Updated room picture!!

I finally have EVERYTHING put away and in its place! The other night Jenny's boyfriend, Chris, put together my bookshelf for me (because I'm useless when it comes to building things) and hung up my picture frame for me!! I thought I would share my very organized bedroom with you!! :)

The Journey Begins

I registered for school yesterday and today I had orientation. It's been a lot of fun but VERY tiring. We've pretty much been going non-stop from 8:30am until about 6pm.

I've met so many cool people from all over the world, even my new friend from Iceland!!

My first day of school is friday. I made my schedule so that I only go to class 2 days a week, so I would have lots of time to do homework and such! I also signed up for student council, a walking tour of downtown LA, and a walking tour of the fashion district! I really want to get familiar with all of the cool places to hang out and figure out where my resources are!

I will update again soon!

What goes up, must come down....

My birthday this year, was not a great one. Things had been going soooo great; moved to Cali, Noah was not to far in San Diego with our dog, I was starting school, and I have a fantastic roommate. Noah called me the night of the 3rd, I was on my way out to Venice beach to spend time with my parents and my sister. He told me that his best friend, Jessica, whom he is living with now was told by her manager that they couldn't have our dog and that Noah and the dog had to move out that night or she would be evicted. Noah didn't know what to do, he could either get rid of Freddie (whom we had had for 2 1/2 years and love VERY much) and stay in San Diego or he could go home to Portland.

After many tears (from me) and Noah having to stay in a very sketchy hotel for the night, we decided that we should find a new home for Freddie. We sent him home with my parents because I thought that he would have a better chance in Oregon and I emailed a rescue place for dogs that said that they could help place him with a family. I have cried a LOT because I hate the thought of him not finding a home or being scared....

I feel like sometimes when life gets too good that something has to happen to bring you back down to reality... is that just me?

Roomie!!

So basically how my apartment (or dorm if you prefer) is set up is it is a 2 bedroom apartment, with 4 girls- which is as crowded as it sounds :)

Jenny and I share a room and we haven't met the other 2 girls yet because they are still on break. When I moved in Jenny was already moved in because she moved in early but she wasn't home! I kind of got a feel for who she is just by her cute stuff and pictures! What I got from her stuff- she is very social, VERY cute, like juicy couture (like me) and is VERY clean (thank God).

Later in the day when I was moving my stuff in she was there! The sweetest little thing from Iowa! Okay, and when I say sweet, I mean like SUPER sweet! (she is probably going to read this and think I'm a freak lol) We have so much in common though. We are both Aries (which I believe I mentioned before), we are both hot (I mean, duh. haha), we are both product development majors, we both have boyfriends, we have very similar sense of humors. The only real differences is that she is SUPER busy and involved in a lot of differnet stuff and she is healthy (Vegan), and if you know me.. I'm super unhealthy.

I'm very excited for this oppurtunity to have such an amazing go-getter roommate because I'm hoping her amazingness (totally a word) will rub off on me! She is student council president and she is a senior tour guide at school... I totally just made her sound like a nerd but she is opposite of that! She is the Super Cool Nerd that everyone wants to be friends with. She is the type of person who could be in the WORST mood ever and you would NEVER know! Freak. :)

Okay, now that I'm done brown nosing I will let you all get back to your lives!!

Road Trip and dorm!

Wednesday morning the 31st I woke up at 7am to leave for our road trip. I was suprisingly not hung over and was ready to go! Noah however thought he might die. He got up and when he heard that I couldn't get ahold of my sister (our driver) he went back to sleep! SOMEONE can't take their liquor! :)

Finally, Gwynne called me back at around 8:30am and told me that she would be on her way over to get us and we could leave. My parents drove the jeep towing the Uhaul with my stuff and Noah's motorcycle. Gwynne, Noah, Freddie (my dog), and I rode in the BMW.

Our first night we stayed in Sacremento, CA the drove to Glendale the next day and stayed there. April 1st I moved into my dorm room!

My sister decided at my going away party that we needed to yet another going away party at the bar. Of course, we did it the night before we left and had to drive 8 hours to Sacremento the next day. I drank waaaay more this time! Here are a few pictures from our shenanigans:
